After playing with the BananaPi recently, the CHIP computer made by Next Thing Co. is pretty tempting at $9 for a computer that can surf the web and run basic programs.
Best of all, it’s totally open-source, so you can view the PCB schematics and Bill of Materials if you want to build one yourself!
Specs:
- 1GHz processing power
- 512MB DDR3 RAM
- 4GB storage built in (you can add more storage via USB Flash drive)
- Bluetooth 4.0
- WiFi (B/G/N)
- Composite video out (optional adapters for HDMI / VGA)
- I2C / SPI / UART / GPIO x8
- Battery use and charging
It’s kickstarting for several more weeks at http://kck.st/1H3QfZj
